Recommendation Letters
Two professional letters of recommendation that address your academic strengths, personal achievements and/or your character are required for consideration to be selected for the program.
These two letters should come from two separate individuals of your choice and should be on an official, professional letterhead. Neither reference should be related to you (Community/school organization advisors, managers, school administrators or teachers, church leaders, etc.)

Written Essay
Written essay (500 words, double-spaced, and typed) on ONE of the following topics:
a. In your opinion, what is the greatest challenge your generation will face? What ideas do you have for dealing with that issue?
b. Indicate a person who has had a significant influence on you and describe that influence.

By signing below, you acknowledge that all information is accurate and complete as stated within this application. Completing this application is not a guarantee of being accepted into the R.A.C.E. Program unless you have been awarded a scholarship through Multicultural Affairs. All scholarship recipients of a diversity scholarhsip through this office are required to participate in R.A.C.E. programs all years the student maintains the award.
Multicultural Affairs staff reserve the right to review the permanent record of each applicant and will have access to applicant’s Tennessee Technological University course grades while he/she is enrolled in the RACE Program. The applicant is required to maintain a 2.5 GPA and to complete all other R.A.C.E. program requirements, such as study sessions and social events, which will be further explained during Sneak Peek Week.
By submitting this application, you acknowledge an understanding of the effort and time the student is undertaking if accepted into the R.A.C.E. Program. You understand that the program operates on a college campus; as such, students are expected to be responsible members of the community. Voluntary leave requests will be subject to the exit policy explained below.
VOLUNTARY EXIT POLICY
In keeping with the mission of R.A.C.E. to retain and graduate students, it is understood that students who accept the invitation to participate in R.A.C.E. will continue in its course of study to graduation. Students who do not maintain adequate academic standing will be placed on probation or will be dismissed per the relevant policy.
Students who maintain good academic standing are expected to graduate from the program. At the beginning of each semester, students (who choose to continue in the program) must sign a contract confirming their commitment to continue in the program.
